  "abstract" : [ "Die Zeichnung ist fundamental für das Werk der deutsch-ägyptischen Künstlerin Susan Hefuna. »Die Zeichnungen Susan Hefunas bilden bewussterweise nichts und niemanden ab. Sie sind poetische Analogien, denen eine ornamentale Ordnung zu eigen ist. Das Nicht-Abbilden im Islam hat ohne Zweifel seine Vorzüge, die eine reiche Kultur haben entstehen lassen. Nach diesem Verständnis erweitert sich der Erkenntnisraum durch die Instanz konkreter Linien und Formen. In dieser Bildwelt steht das Kleine, Mikrokosmische zugleich auch für das Große. In diesen Kleinoden Susan Hefunas drückt sich eben dieses Sein aus. Dies ist ihre Bestimmung.« (Tayfun Belgin). Susan Hefunas Zeichnungen sind weltweit in Sammlungen vertreten, unter anderem im MoMA, New York, im Art Institute of Chicago, im British Museum, London, im Centre Pompidou und im Louvre, Paris. 2009 wurden etwa 300 ihrer mehrschichtigen Tusch- und Bleistiftzeichnungen auf Transparentpapier bei der Biennale Venedig gezeigt. 2010 folgte die Ausstellung On Line: Drawing Through the Twentieth Century, im MoMA und 2013 NOTATIONOTATIONS im Drawing Center, New York. 2013 erhielt Hefuna den renommierten Drawing Prize der Daniel & Florence Guerlain Foundation, Paris" ],
