Was zunächst wie ein normaler Selbstmord aussieht, entpuppt sich als Entrée in ein Netz aus Verrat, Intrigen und Verblendung. Eigentlich wollte Matthäus nur den Kurzurlaub für die Renovierung seines Ferienhauses im beschaulichen Bansbach im Sauerland nutzen. Doch alles kommt anders! Als Kommissar Matthäus die Schwelle des alten Klosters überschreitet, ahnt er noch nicht, welches Geheimnis die Bewohner vor ihm zu verbergen haben. Die dubiosen Gestalten geben dem Ermittler einige Rätsel auf. Schon bald weisen immer mehr Details auf das mysteriöse Verschwinden eines weiteren hochrangigen Mitglieds der Bruderschaft hin. Matthäus stößt bei seinen Ermittlungen auf eine heiße Spur. Alle Fäden führen in das englische Gloucester, von wo aus eine ominöse Stiftung ihre Strippen zieht. Der Kommissar ahnt, dass es Zusammenhänge zwischen dem Netz aus Intrigen und den darin verstrickten Personen geben muss. Der englische Bruder ist ein spannender Kriminalroman. Es ist auch ein Roman über Hörigkeit, Verblendung und Verführung, ein packender psychologischer Roman." ],
