  "abstract" : [ "Abstract: Die Folgen der wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung und der politischen Weichenstellungen in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland sind als zunehmende Polarisierung der Gesellschaft insbesondere in den Städten nicht zu übersehen. Eine wachsende Zahl von Menschen wird gesellschaftlich an den Rand gedrängt und von der gleichberechtigten Teilhabe am sozialen Leben ausgegrenzt. Diese Haushalte, Deutsche mit unterdurchschnittlichem Einkommen ebenso wie Migranten, konzentrieren sich in wenigen Stadtteilen, für die die Gefahr besteht, dass sie ins Abseits geraten. Angesichts dieser Entwicklung stellt sich die Frage nach der Wirksamkeit und dem Erfolg der über Jahrzehnte hinweg betriebenen Stadterneuerungspolitik. Dem gemäß besteht das Ziel der empirischen Untersuchung darin, herauszufinden, warum die Bewohner benachteiligter Stadtteile trotz dauerhafter und finanziell aufwendiger Stadterneuerungsprogramme nach wie vor unter Arbeitslosigkeit, Armut und Ausgrenzung leiden und auch die interethnischen Konflikte nicht beseitigt werden konnten." ],
