Geburtstag- für seine Schüler ein willkommener Anlaß, ihren Lehrer mit der Vorlage dieser Festschrift gebührend zu ehren und ihm Dank abzustatten für die vielfältige Förderung auf ihrem Lebensweg. Die Lehr- und Forschungstätigkeit Wilhelm Lauers in Kiel, Marburg und Bonn, ergänzt durch zahlreiche Auslandskontakte und -aufenthalte, hat einen großen Schülerkreis im In- und Ausland heranwachsen lassen, dessen Arbeiten ein getreues Spiegelbild der weitgespannten wissenschaftlichen Aktivitäten und Interessen des Jubilars darstellen. Auch die Beiträge in diesem Band bieten dafür beredtes Zeugnis. Über die Schwerpunkte der Lateinamerika- und Tropenforschung, der Klimatologie, Pflanzengeographie, Geoökologie, Agrargeographie, Quartär- und Hochgebirgsforschung hinaus werden in dieser Festschrift zahlreiche weitere sachliche und regionale Themenkreise angesprochen, die ihre Wurzeln überwiegend im akademischen Unterricht und in den wissenschaftlichen Publikationen Wilhelm Lauers haben. Allen Schül~rn, auch jenen, die sich nicht mit Beiträgen an diesem Band beteiligen konnten, ist es daher ein besonderes Anliegen, ihrem Lehrer für vielfältige Hilfen und Anregungen herzlichen Dank zu sagen und ihm noch viele Jahre Gesundheit, Glück und Schaffenskraft zu wünschen." ],
