  "abstract" : [ "Im Frühjahr 1945 musste Rudolf Wolters als Architekt neu beginnen. Hinter ihm, dem engen Mitarbeiter des NS-Generalbauinspekteurs und späteren Rüstungsministers Albert Speer, lag ein überaus erfolgreiches Schaffen als Propagandist und Ausstellungsmacher im Zentrum nationalsozialistischer Macht. Obwohl seit fast 20 Jahren Architekt, hatte Wolters keine berufliche Praxis. Dennoch machte er sich nun mit einem Büro in seiner Vaterstadt Coesfeld selbstständig. Dort und in anderen Städten und Gemeinden Nordrhein-Westfalens entfaltete er ein beachtliches Werk. Wie kaum ein anderes Architekturbüro setzte Wolters in der Region Westfalen Maßstäbe bei städtebaulichen, raumplanerischen und landesplanerischen Aufgaben im Wiederaufbau, ohne sich gedanklich vom Nationalsozialismus gelöst zu haben. Wenngleich er in der Bundesrepublik nicht in die Öffentlichkeit drängte, wandte er sich wiederholt in Veröffentlichungen grundlegenden Problemen der Architektur zu, wobei er konsequent an Positionen festhielt, die ihn seit den Dreißigerjahren als eherne Gewissheiten begleiteten.
