Deutsche Geographentag 1997 in Bonn ist dem zuständigen Ortsausschuß Anlaß, der interessierten Öffentlichkeit neben einer wissenschaftlichen Festschrift auch einen Exkursionsführer über die Stadt Bonn und ihr näheres und ferneres Umland zu überreichen. Es ist dies in der langen Geschichte der Bonner Geographischen Institute die erste Veröffentlichung dieser Art; sie war seit langem überfällig und gewinnt zum jetzigen Erscheinungstermin angesichts der jüngsten politischen Entwicklung und ihren daraus resultierenden weitreichenden Konsequenzen für den Standort Bonn vielleicht eine besondere Aktualität. Trotz des Bestrebens, eine gewisse Vereinheitlichung bei der Beschreibung der Exkursionen zu erreichen, sollten Individualität und Stil der Manuskripte dennoch erhalten bleiben, um dem persönlichen Anliegen der Autorinnen und Autoren gerecht zu werden. Durch die unterschiedliche Vorgehensweise bei der Routenbeschreibung soll ein möglichst weit gefaßter Kreis von Nutzerinnen und Nutzern dieses Exkursionsführers angesprochen und angeregt werden, sich mit den vielseitigen geographischen Aspekten der Bundesstadt Bonn und ihres näheren und weiteren Umlandes durch die Beschäftigung „am Objekt\" und „vor Ort\" intensiver zu befassen. Räumlicher Schwerpunkt dieses Bandes ist die Stadt Bonn, die von den einzelnen Autoren ganz bewußt unter den unterschiedlichsten thematischen und räumlichen Gesichtspunkten dargestellt wird. So werden nach einer geographischen Einführung einer großen – das gesamte Stadtgebiet umfassenden - Exkursion mehrere kleinere, auf einzelne Stadtteile oder auch Themen begrenzte und in entsprechend kürzerer Zeit durchführbare Exkursionen zur Seite gestellt. Aspekte, die bei der einen Exkursion eher eine untergeordnete Rolle spielen, können über Querverweise im Text an anderer Stelle einer vertieften Betrachtung unterzogen werden." ],
