Der vorliegende Band 1 zur Umnutzung von Kirchen beinhaltet 21 Beispiele zu entweihten und umgebauten Sakralbauten aus Nordrhein-Westfalen, die zwischen 1865-1965 errichtet wurden. Die Vielfalt an neuen Nutzungskonzepten für Kulturgebäude, Kolumbarien, Sportbauten, Büro- und Verwaltungsgebäude, Wohngebäude und Kindergärten zeigt das Potential zur Umnutzung von Kirchen anschaulich auf. In den Dokumentationen werden Besonderheiten zum Immobilienbestand, zu den vorgenommenen Umnutzungen und zum städtebaulichen Kontext einheitlich beschrieben und systematisch gegenübergestellt. Es werden sowohl neue Hauptnutzungen also auch innovative Konzepte zur Mischnutzung ehemaliger Kirchenräume vorgestellt. Die Bandbreite an Baumaßnahmen reicht dabei von kleineren Eingriffen bis hin zu umfangreichen Umbaumaßnahmen, Modernisierungen und Erweiterungen. Der Band enthält zudem ergänzende Übersichten zur zeitlichen Verortung der Bauwerke und Kartierung der beschriebenen Umnutzungen." ],
