  "abstract" : [ "Klasse, Schicht, Milieu – die Soziologie kennt verschiedene Begriffe, die die Unterschiede der sozialen Herkunft kenntlich machen. Statt für ein gleichberechtigtes Nebeneinander verschiedener Lebensstile stehen sie für eine Hierarchie: Sie weisen auf ein Oben und ein Unten der Gesellschaft hin. Klassengrenzen zu durchbrechen und auf- oder abzusteigen, ist möglich, die Prägung durch die eigene Herkunft loszuwerden aber kaum. Die Autorinnen und Autoren zeigen, was es bedeutet, Ungleichheit zu erfahren – sei es an Bildung, Einkommen, Anerkennung oder Gesundheit –, an die unsichtbaren Grenzen von Klassen und Milieus zu stoßen und sie zu überschreiten. Ihnen geht es dabei nicht um sozialwissenschaftliche Analyse, sondern um die Darstellung persönlicher Erfahrungen. Sie sprechen über Angst und Scham, Diskriminierung, Gewalt und über den Kampf, den sie gegen widrige soziale Umstände führen oder geführt haben. Auf diese Weise machen sie darauf aufmerksam, dass Lebenschancen auch in einer wohlhabenden Gesellschaft wie der deutschen ungleich verteilt sind, diese von vielfältigen Bedingungen abhängen und die Individuen auf unterschiedliche Weise mit ihnen umgehen." ],
