  "abstract" : [ "Die Kraftstoffwirtschaft in Deutschland entstand ab Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts parallel zum Aufkommen des Automobils. Von Beginn an begleiteten die Vorläufergesellschaften der Aral AG die Entwicklung. Mitte der 1920er-Jahre fiel die Entscheidung, ein eigenes Tankstellennetz aufzubauen und dort eine hochwertige Benzol-Benzin-Mischung unter der Marke \"Aral\" anzubieten. Innerhalb von zehn Jahren stieg das Unternehmen zum Marktführer auf und behauptet diese Position bis heute. Seit den 1970er-Jahren wandelte sich die Aral-Tankstelle zum modernen Dienstleistungsbetrieb rund ums Auto. Der Trend zur Großtankstelle, Selbstbedienung, ein expandierendes Shopgeschäft mit wechselndem Warenangebot und das Waschgeschäft bestimmten von nun an das Bild. Das Buch zeichnet am Beispiel von Aral erstmals die 125-jährige Geschichte der Branche nach.
