  "abstract" : [ "Der vorliegende Katalog stellt parallel zu ihrer Zeigung im Leopold-Hoesch-Museum, Düren eine neue Werkgruppe des Künstlers Volker Saul in Buchform vor. „Atfermath – Turning“ umfasst 33 Papierschnitte und einen Animationsfilm zu Improvisationen der beiden Jazzmusiker Dave Liebman und Richie Beirach. Zusammengestellt und eingespielt wurde diese Klangcollage gemeinsam mit dem Sounddesigner Florian Van Volxem im CMP Studio des Musikproduzenten Kurt Renker in Zerkall bei Düren. Der digitale Film animiert die Formen und Strukturen der Papierschnitte, die räumlich organisiert sind, zu abstrakten Bewegungskonstellationen. Der Titel stellt die werkimmanente Referenz zur Musik her, indem Drehbewegung und Nachklang als zeitliche Aspekte und damit zentrale Elemente künstlerischer Artikulation wie ästhetischer Wahrnehmung charakterisiert werden. Volker Saul, geboren 1955 in Düren, lebt und arbeitet in Köln und in der Eifel, gehörte 1987 zu den ersten Stipendiat*innen der Günther-Peill-Stiftung am LHM und hat bereits mehrfach im LHM ausgestellt. Seine Werkgruppe „Aftermath – Turning“ geht durch Schenkung in den Sammlungsbestand des LHM ein. Das Buch beinhaltet repräsentative Stills des Animationsfilms sowie Abbildungen sämtlicher Papierschnitte. Ein Text von Anja Dorn, Direktorin des LHM, ordnet „Aftermath – Turning“ in das Schaffen des Künstlers ein und eine Betrachtung des Musikkritikers und Autors Felix Klopotek stellt wesentliche musikalische Bezüge zur künstlerischen Arbeit von Volker Saul her." ],
