Im Mittelpunkt stehen die Gastarbeiter:innen, die für bessere Arbeitsbedingungen, gerechte Bezahlung und Gleichbehandlung kämpften – und damit nicht nur die Betriebe, sondern auch die Gesellschaft herausforderten. Zu Gast sind Irina Vavitsa, Zeitzeugin und Mitstreiterin beim Streik im Hella-Werk in Lippstadt, sowie Historiker Tim Zumloh vom LWL-Institut für westfälische Regionalgeschichte. Gemeinsam blicken sie auf die Ursachen der Streikwelle: Lohndiskriminierung, fehlende Mitsprache und die Erfahrung, trotz harter Arbeit als „Fremde“ behandelt zu werden. Wir besprechen, wie aus alltäglicher Ungleichbehandlung und Unmut eine Bewegung entstand – und wie die Streikenden, oft ohne Unterstützung von Gewerkschaft oder Betriebsrat, für ihre Rechte eintraten. Irina Vavitsa berichtet von der Atmosphäre im Betrieb, der Rolle der Dolmetscher, der Kraft des Zusammenhalts und der Solidarität, die die Streikenden – trotz medialer Anfeindungen – aus der Region erfuhren. Auch die unterschiedlichen Reaktionen von Gewerkschaften und Öffentlichkeit werden thematisiert: von moralischer Unterstützung bis zu offener Ablehnung und Hetze. Eine Folge, die ein bislang wenig beachtetes Kapitel der westfälischen und deutschen Geschichte aufschlägt, das bis heute nachwirkt. Eine Folge über Mut und die Kraft, Geschichte zu verändern – erzählt aus der Perspektive derjenigen, die sie geschrieben haben." ],
