Im selben Jahr erfolgte seine Berufung zum Honorarprofessor für Festkörperphysik an der Technischen Universität Dresden und nachfolgend 1983 seine Ernennung zum Professor an der Akademie der Wissenschaften der DDR (AdW). Er war von 1970 bis 1990 Vizepräsident der Akademie der Wissenschaften der DDR. Nach der Abwicklung der Akademie war er als Firmenberater tätig." ],
